Migration to WordPress

Managing the website more efficiently became a priority. Previously, I was manually coding everything in Adobe Dreamweaver. While I love to code, this wasn’t efficient or a good long-term solution.

So, I created and executed a plan to design a new website in WordPress (while learning about the platform along the way) and migrated everything over to the Content Management System. I improved the overall look of the site with a fresh design and layout that was modern, responsive, user friendly (both for visitors and on the backend admin side), and adaptable for new content and design updates down the road.

  1. Met with the team to discuss project scope, challenges, and goals
  2. Researched the migration process and created plan & timeline
  3. Evaluated current website and created site structure map
  4. Learned about the Managed WordPress platform
  5. Set up backend and admin info
  6. Researched and added plugins (especially for embedded videos, forms, anti-spam, security, and backups)
  7. Identified best template to fit the project and set up brand identity items
  8. Created wireframes and design mockups
  9. Designed menus, header, footer, and template pages, including custom CSS
  10. Created home page and all subpages for the site
  11. Set up content for accessibility and SEO
  12. Performed extensive testing on browsers and devices
  13. Reviewed with team and published site
  14. Regularly updated based on requests, feedback, and new content/pages
